Constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment in Mediterranean tourist zones (NW of Morocco). Constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment in Mediterranean tourist zones (NW of Morocco). Contrary to classic techniques, constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment present a number of features recommending their application in tourist and farming zones of the Mediterranean Morocco. This paper underlinesa classification of natural techniques and shows the preliminary results of an experimentation led in M'Diq (NW of Morocco). According to an experimental system basing on 17 planted or unplanted basins and supplied with urban wastewater we proposed a multistage system to optimise for wastewater treatment under Mediterranean climate. The "lagoon or aquatic ecosystem / Typha angustifolia semiaquatic ecosystem / Arundo donax terrestrial ecosystem" multistage system shows the best water quality improvement.
